Same-Sex Marriage

We distinguish between same-sex marriage and same-sex sexual behaviour. We are in favour of same-sex marriage, however, that is not to say we don't believe same-sex sexual behaviour is a sin. Many people have happy, fulfilling, healthy romantic relationships without having sex with their partners. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. Leviticus 18:22 mandates that men shall not lie with men, for example. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to same-sex sexual behaviour, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person's choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. Just because a person is born with a greater susceptibility to fits of rage, that doesn't make it right for him to give in to those desires and explode at every provocation. The same is true with a susceptibility to same-sex sexual behaviour. Although we believe same-sex sexual behaviour is a sin, we don't believe it's severe enough of a sin to justify prosecution or persecution.
