Same-Sex Marriage
We distinguish between same-sex marriage and same-sex sexual behaviour. We are in favour of same-sex marriage, however, that is not to say we don't believe same-sex sexual behaviour is a sin. Many people have happy, fulfilling, healthy romantic relationships without having sex with their partners. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. Leviticus 18:22 mandates that men shall not lie with men, for example. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to same-sex sexual behaviour, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person's choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. Just because a person is born with a greater susceptibility to fits of rage, that doesn't make it right for him to give in to those desires and explode at every provocation. The same is true with susceptibility to same-sex sexual behaviour. Although we believe same-sex sexual behaviour is a sin, we don't believe it's severe enough of a sin to justify prosecution or persecution.
