Death Penalty

Under certain circumstances, we support the death penalty (capital punishment). In the Bible, there are a number of verses that state the death penalty as being just, such as Genesis 9:6 (NIV): "Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind."

We only support the death penalty when the most heinous murder has been committed, and there is no doubt whatsoever that the person is guilty. Where an element of doubt exists, or in circumstances, for example, where someone has been the victim of an abusive relationship and they killed their abuser, we wouldn't support the death penalty. We would support the death penalty where the killer is diagnosed as being mentally ill, because we don't think there's any excuse to murder someone.
